Publications
JALT Bylaws state that each SIG must produce three communications with its members each year. For 1500 yen of hard-earned cash, SIGs must strive to show value for that cash. The most immediate product is our newsletters. In this section, you can access some past newletters, find out about the upcoming one, and members can access the latest published one. Non-members, you can easily become a member.

Next issue submission deadline:
July 1st, 2009

Get your submission to the Editor and, if possible, indicate your intention to submit (without prejudice) beforehand.

See the submission guidelines for how to submit graphics, text formatting, word counts and so on.

Past Publications
The Materials Writers Special Interest Group is in our 16th year. Beginning in the era of photocopiers and postal envelopes, many of the past issues of our rag, Between the Keys, are lost. If any reader has an old copy or two lying around, please contact me and we'll get that copy in our archives. It would be great to re-build our history in this way. [UPDATE: Thanks to a few generous souls, I now have the entire archives in some form or another in my office. When I get the time, I'll catalogue them and try to get as many as I can online. - Jim Smiley Aug 2008]

Current Publications
The publications from the past 12 months are accessible to members only. In this year, we have had articles on:

  • How to get and manage peer feedback on your materials
  • Writing for the Japanese market
  • Surveys on materials creation
  • Preparing materials for athletes
  • How a classroom teacher builds materials
and many more...
