Statement of Purpose
The MW SIG was established for the purpose of helping members to turn fresh teaching ideas into useful classroom materials. We try to be a mutual assistance network, offering information regarding copyright law, sharing practical advice on publishing practices, including self-publication, and suggesting ways to create better language learning materials for general consumption or for individual classroom use.

Why Join the MW-SIG?

This page is under construction. But briefly, I can say that it costs 1500 yen a year to join. If you are already a JALT member, the membership to MW runs concurrent with your JALT membership. *Be careful: if you join our SIG with, say, 3 months to run on your JALT membership, you will only get 3 months of MW membership.

Another option is to subscribe. For the same payment, you get access to our newsletter but are not considered a member of our SIG.

IMPORTANT: Please note that the MW-SIG will never accept credit card payment for membership fees or publications.

Payment for membership is usually done at the same time as your usual JALT membership either through their website or using a Post Office remittance form. If someone asks you for payment saying that they are from the Materials Writers Special Interest Group, do not pay. This is called Phishing and is a crime. For MW-SIG publications, we will ask you to send payment to our bank account after replying to your initial contact.
